Aye, it’s a tangled web we weave, matey. Sit back while I tell ya’ the story of a simple idea that became, well, I guess you’d call it “real life”. Back in March of ‘01 CLIX was facing a dilemma: our lease was up in the fall, we had been at 30 N. Williams for six years and I was beginning to itch for a change, and the empty building at 33 N. Williams began to call to me. So, we began inquiring and just as if the white whale from Moby Dick were beckoning me on, it seemed more and more possible. As always, my CLIX Chix chums were gung-ho good sports. Our lease was up 10/31 but negotiations went slowly, so by 1/31 we were homeless. We dug in, packed up and moved out. And back in again, but this time we were at 35 Grant St. The seas looked calm, but a storm was brewin’. We were afraid to make plans for our new home until it was our new home. All of this delayed our planning, but we finally settled on the building, and then the fun began as we imagined what it could be. Get a bunch of creative people together and let them dream...that’s when you see the perfect storm.
